Stocks to Watch Today: The Quick List

  • RBL Bank: Q2 net profit of Rs 481.7 crore versus Rs 179 crore a year ago, and lower bad-loan ratios.
  • ICICI Prudential AMC: Q2 profit after tax of Rs 888.96 crore, up 6.08% year-on-year, and a record Rs 30 interim dividend.
  • IRCON International: a Letter of Acceptance for a Rs 862.46 crore track-works contract from East Central Railway.
  • Nazara Technologies: a new chief financial officer, plus changes in board and executive roles.
  • Also in focus: Indian Hotels, Karur Vysya Bank, Bank of India, Vikran Engineering and Swan Defence and Heavy Industries.

HCL Technologies: Profit Beats, Margin Improves, Guidance Unchanged

HCLTech is the headline name here. ET Now’s results report shows consolidated net profit climbing 10.99% from Rs 4,624 crore in the June quarter to Rs 5,132 crore. Year-on-year, profit was up 21.2%. Revenue from operations grew 3.01% sequentially to Rs 35,620 crore from Rs 34,579 crore, and was 11.5% higher than a year ago.

The real strength was in profitability. EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) rose 10.87% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 6,465 crore, and EBIT margin widened to 18.15% from 16.86% in Q1 FY27. The company said that reported margin already takes in an 84 basis point hit from restructuring costs. Its Advanced AI business brought in USD 219 million of revenue, up 78% year-on-year in constant currency. New deal bookings stood at USD 3.3 billion, up 27% year-on-year.

Was it a beat? That depends on whose estimate you go by. CNBC-TV18 said profit came in above its poll estimate of Rs 4,963 crore, but revenue missed its poll figure of Rs 35,819 crore. ET Now’s poll had pegged revenue at Rs 35,597 crore, so against that, revenue was a touch ahead. Either way, the surprise on profit and margin was bigger than any shortfall on revenue.

HCLTech held its FY27 revenue growth guidance at 2.5% to 4% in constant currency, with 3% to 4% for services and an EBIT margin band of 17.5% to 18.5%, ET Now reported. Financial Express added that the company hired 6,450 people in the quarter, its biggest quarterly addition in 16 quarters, and announced a partnership with Anthropic to build industry-specific agentic AI solutions.

The board declared an interim dividend of Rs 12 a share, with October 16, 2026 as the record date and October 26 as the payment date. The stock had closed Monday 0.5% up at Rs 1,223 on the NSE, so the market’s verdict on these numbers comes in Tuesday’s trade. Our HCLTech Q2 results post goes into the numbers in more detail.

A results beat is only as good as the estimate behind it. HCLTech beat one revenue poll and missed another on the same numbers, which is why margins and guidance often move the stock more than the headline figure.

RBL Bank: Profit Jumps, Bad Loans Ease, Provisions Rise

RBL Bank posted Q2 FY27 net profit of Rs 481.7 crore against Rs 179 crore in the same quarter last year, both Financial Express and CNBC-TV18 reported. Net interest income (NII), which is the gap between what the bank earns on loans and what it pays on deposits, rose 37.4% year-on-year to Rs 2,131 crore from Rs 1,551 crore.

Asset quality got better sequentially. Gross non-performing assets slipped to 1.02% of loans from 1.30%, and net NPAs came down to 0.29% from 0.37%. Provisions, the money kept aside for possible loan losses, went the other way: they rose to Rs 766.5 crore from Rs 599.2 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 499.7 crore a year ago. At the open, traders will be balancing that profit jump against the heavier provisioning.

ICICI Prudential AMC: Record Dividend, Profit Up 6%

ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company reported a 6.08% year-on-year rise in profit after tax to Rs 888.96 crore for the September quarter, according to Financial Express. Revenue from operations grew 16.31% to Rs 1,673.79 crore from Rs 1,439.06 crore. Total expenses grew slightly faster, though, up 17.86% to Rs 493 crore from Rs 418.31 crore, and that’s why profit lagged revenue so clearly. Against the June quarter, CNBC-TV18 said net profit was down 7.8%.

The underlying business is still expanding. The Economic Times reported that mutual fund quarterly average assets under management (QAAUM) rose 14.4% year-on-year to Rs 11.61 lakh crore from Rs 10.15 lakh crore, giving the company a 13.3% market share.

The board approved an interim dividend of Rs 30 a share. Financial Express called it the company’s highest ever, compared with the Rs 14.85 per share interim dividend announced in January 2026. ET put the record date at October 21, 2026.

IRCON International: Rs 862 Crore Railway Track Contract

State-run IRCON International has received a Letter of Acceptance from East Central Railway for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth Rs 862.46 crore. The job covers track works and the supply of railway materials for the third and fourth lines of the Son Nagar-Andal project.

According to Financial Express, the scope includes supplying ballast and permanent way materials, and laying and linking track built for a 32.5-tonne axle load. The project runs across the Gomoh-Koderma section under the Dhanbad division and the Gaya-Son Nagar section under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya division. Orders like this usually matter more for what they add to the order book over the next few years than for any single quarter’s revenue.

Nazara Technologies: CFO Change and Board Reshuffle

Nazara Technologies has announced a string of senior management changes. Financial Express reported that Arun Agrawal takes over as chief financial officer from October 16, 2026, and that managing director Nitish Mittersain moves to founder and non-executive director from October 12, subject to shareholder approval. The outgoing CFO, Rakesh Shah, has resigned with effect from October 15, 2026, CNBC-TV18 said.

Whole-time director Rohit Sharma steps down at close of business on January 11, 2027. Mithun Padam Sacheti moves from non-executive director to executive director and whole-time director, again subject to shareholder approval. Changes at the very top often bring some short-term volatility while investors wait to hear what it means for strategy, so keep an eye out for any management commentary that follows.

Other Stocks in Focus on October 13

CNBC-TV18’s list also picked out these updates:

  • Indian Hotels Company (IHCL): signed 47 hotels and opened 20 in the first half of FY2027, taking the portfolio to 670 hotels. Ginger and Tree of Life made up 19 of the signings in the mid-scale segment.
  • Karur Vysya Bank: tied up with Zurich Kotak General Insurance to sell general insurance products to its customers.
  • Bank of India: declared Future Enterprises’ non-performing account, with Rs 575.40 crore outstanding, as fraud, and has made provisions of Rs 575.40 crore against it.
  • Vikran Engineering: wholly owned subsidiary NOPL Solar Projects signed a Rs 2,941.19 crore loan agreement with IREDA to part-fund a 969 MWac/1,163 MWp solar project spread over 152 locations in Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 scheme.
  • Swan Defence and Heavy Industries: posted quarterly net profit of Rs 566.44 crore against a loss of Rs 0.55 crore a year ago. The company disclosed that the profit includes a write-back of excess provisions from earlier years, so the jump isn’t purely operating growth.

Results Due Today

CNBC-TV18 listed Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers, GTPL Hathway, Hero Motors, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Tata Elxsi among companies due to report quarterly results on October 13. Depending on when the numbers land, these stocks could move late in the session or on Wednesday.

The biggest mistakes on a stocks-to-watch morning come from reacting to the headline number alone. One-off items such as provision write-backs, restructuring costs or a single big order can make a quarter look better or worse than the underlying business.

Dividend Dates: What Shareholders Need to Know

Two of today’s names have dividend record dates coming up: HCLTech on October 16 and ICICI Prudential AMC on October 21. Under India’s T+1 settlement cycle, the ex-date and record date are the same day, as Zerodha’s support guide explains. So to qualify, you need to buy on or before the last trading day before the record date. Shares bought on the record date itself won’t count. Check the exchange’s corporate action notice and holiday calendar before you rely on any particular date.

How to Use a Stocks-to-Watch List

A morning list tells you where to look. It doesn’t tell you what to trade. A few habits help you get more out of one:

  • Read the actual numbers. Compare profit, revenue and margins with both the previous quarter and the same quarter a year ago, and check whether a one-off item is in there.
  • Check expectations. Stocks often move on how results stack up against estimates, and different polls can give different answers, as HCLTech shows.
  • See the whole picture for banks. Read profit growth, bad-loan ratios and provisions together, not one at a time.
  • Keep orders and earnings apart. A contract win adds revenue over the life of the project, so size it against the existing order book before you react.
  • Wait for the open. Pre-open prices can jump around, and the first few minutes of trade usually give a clearer sense of how the market is taking the news.

What It Means for Today’s Session

Tuesday’s stock-specific moves will be driven by the Q2 FY27 earnings season, with HCLTech’s better margins and RBL Bank’s profit jump the biggest updates from Monday evening. ICICI Prudential AMC’s record dividend and IRCON’s railway order give investors more to weigh, and Nazara’s management changes will be watched for any follow-up commentary. With more results coming through the day, expect individual stocks to trade on their own news more than on where the broader market is heading.
