Hindustan Composites special dividend October 16: the board’s decision
The board met on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. IST, and declared a special interim dividend of 420%, which is ₹21 on each equity share of ₹5 face value, for the financial year 2026-27. The same filing sets October 16, 2026 as the record date under Regulation 42 and says the money will reach eligible shareholders within 30 days of declaration, as the Companies Act, 2013 requires. Under T+1 settlement, the last day to buy and still qualify was Thursday, October 15, 2026; our guide on dividend record date vs ex-date explains why.
Kotak Neo and Livemint’s dividend history both carry the same ₹21 special interim and October 16 record date after the board meeting. Livemint shows an announcement date of October 12, 2026, with ex-date and record date both on October 16, 2026, which matches the NSE corporate-actions feed.
The numbers in one place
- Dividend: ₹21.00 per share (420% of ₹5 face value), special interim for FY 2026-27.
- Record date and ex-date: October 16, 2026 (NSE). Payment within 30 days of the October 12 declaration.
- Recent payouts (NSE / Livemint): final ₹2.00 (ex-date and record date September 22, 2026) and final ₹2.00 (ex-date and record date September 18, 2025).
- Share price: HINDCOMPOS closed at ₹478.20 on NSE on October 15, up from the previous close of ₹465.80, on 147,660 shares traded, per the NSE bhavcopy. At that close, the ₹21 special dividend works out to about 4.39% of the share price (our calculation).
Far bigger than the usual finals
At ₹21, this special interim is more than ten times the company’s recent ₹2 final dividends. The filing doesn’t say why the board went for a special payout now. It records only the declaration, the face-value percentage, the record date and the 30-day payment window. Hindustan Composites makes friction materials and industrial products for automotive and other industries, as Kotak Neo’s report on the announcement summarises. Today’s record date sits alongside other October 16 corporate actions we’ve covered, including the HCL Technologies dividend record date and the Canara Robeco AMC dividend record date.
Who gets paid, and when
If you bought HINDCOMPOS on or before October 15 and held it into today’s record date, the ₹21 is yours, even if you sell from the ex-date session onward. Buy on or after October 16 and you don’t qualify. The payment should land in the bank account linked to your demat holding within 30 days of October 12, so by about November 11, 2026. Worth keeping your KYC and bank details up to date.
For long-term holders, this is a one-time cash return that’s large next to the stock’s recent annual ₹2 finals. We’d watch how the price behaves around the ex-date session, and whether later interim or final dividends go back to the old ₹2 pattern or edge closer to this special size.
