The big Reliance share price news today is a fresh 52-week low. Reliance Industries dropped to an intraday low of about ₹1,155 on Monday, 12 October 2026, its weakest point in a year. Along with ICICI Bank and Larsen & Toubro, it was also one of the biggest drags on the Nifty, CNBC-TV18 reported.

Reliance share price news today: the key levels

Here’s what market data on The Economic Times and CNBC-TV18 showed as of early afternoon on 12 October:

  • Day’s range: open ₹1,180.30, high ₹1,185.50, low ₹1,155.10
  • 52-week range: ₹1,155.10 to ₹1,611.80. CNBC-TV18 data puts the high on 5 January 2026.
  • Distance from the 52-week high: roughly 28% at the day’s low
  • Previous close (9 October): about ₹1,170

Why the stock keeps slipping

Reliance is getting hit by the same things pulling the whole market down. Foreign investors have sold about ₹3.04 lakh crore of Indian shares in 2026. Reliance is one of the most widely held stocks among FPIs, so when they cut India exposure, it’s among the first to go. Brent crude near $106 a barrel cuts both ways for the oil-to-chemicals business: refining realisations can improve, but feedstock gets costlier and demand takes a hit. And bond yields rising after the RBI’s rate hike have pressed down on large-cap valuations across the board.

When the market’s largest heavyweights hit 52-week lows on the same day the index falls, it usually reflects index-level selling by large funds rather than stock-specific bad news.

How the index moved around Reliance

CNBC-TV18 named Reliance, ICICI Bank and Larsen & Toubro as the three stocks that contributed most to the Nifty’s decline, per its report. It was a choppy session. The Sensex opened more than 400 points up, then reversed, and at the low it was down 796.23 points at 71,676.10. India VIX, the market’s fear gauge, jumped more than 6% to go past 15, according to ET Now.

Energy stocks were soft too. The BSE Energy index lost 0.53% while Brent crude rose 1.14% to $105.8 a barrel, ET Now said. Crude-sensitive names like IndiGo and Asian Paints fell nearly 1% each, as per CNBC-TV18.

Flows and the rupee

Exchange data showed foreign institutional investors sold ₹3,568.90 crore of equities on Friday. Analysts quoted by ET Now blamed rising 10-year government bond yields, steady FII outflows and Middle East tensions for the weak risk appetite. The rupee was the one bright spot. It gained 93 paise to close at 95.78 (provisional) against the dollar after the RBI stepped in to curb speculation in the forex market.

Market context

On Monday the Nifty 50 lost 0.70% to 22,363.35 and the Sensex fell 547.65 points. The Nifty Bank dropped 339 points to 54,918, weighed down by the RBI’s tighter daily CRR rules. Our explainer on why the market fell today has the full picture.

What it means for investors

A 52-week low tells you to take a closer look. It isn’t a verdict by itself. To see how traders and investors read these levels, check our guide to 52-week highs and lows. The next real test for Reliance is its Q2 results. We follow the daily moves on our Stock Market Today India hub.
