Laurus Labs Q2 results, announced on Thursday, October 29, were the kind pharma investors had been hoping for. Consolidated net profit for the September quarter rose 126.7% year-on-year to ₹442 crore, from ₹195 crore a year earlier, according to CNBC-TV18. BusinessLine puts the profit at ₹441 crore, so the gap is just rounding. Either way, profit more than doubled.

Laurus Labs Q2 results: the key numbers
Revenue from operations grew 33.4% year-on-year to ₹2,206 crore, up from ₹1,653.5 crore in the September 2025 quarter. EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) jumped 86% to ₹750 crore from ₹403.3 crore. That pushed the EBITDA margin, meaning EBITDA as a share of revenue, to 34% from 24.4% a year ago.
Every one of these numbers came in ahead of the CNBC-TV18 poll. Analysts surveyed by the channel had pencilled in profit of ₹354.1 crore, revenue of ₹2,109.5 crore, EBITDA of ₹644.4 crore and a margin of 30.5%. So this was a clean beat on every line.
- Net profit: ₹442 crore, up 126.7% from ₹195 crore
- Revenue from operations: ₹2,206 crore, up 33.4% from ₹1,653.5 crore
- EBITDA: ₹750 crore, up 86% from ₹403.3 crore
- EBITDA margin: 34%, against 24.4% a year earlier
What stands out is the margin. Revenue grew by about a third, but EBITDA nearly doubled. When operating profit grows much faster than sales, it usually means a richer business mix or better use of existing plants, and both tend to matter more than one quarter’s headline growth. If you want a quick framework for reading results like these, our guide on how to analyse quarterly results of a company walks through it step by step.
What management pointed to
Founder and CEO Satyanarayana Chava called it “another record quarter of strong growth in Revenue and Profits”, crediting the company’s CDMO (contract development and manufacturing) platform and its affordable medicines portfolio, BusinessLine reported. He said Laurus had started its first commercial-scale peptide plant in Vizag, and that a significant capacity expansion was already under way to meet demand for peptide therapeutics.
That’s the bit we’d keep an eye on. Peptide capacity takes time and money to build, and the payoff shows up only if customers fill the lines.
Two small acquisitions
The board approved two deals alongside the numbers. The first is a 60% stake in Canada-based Galenvs Sciences at a pre-money valuation of $3.5 million. Laurus plans to invest $3.75 million: a $2.75 million primary infusion plus a $1 million secondary purchase from the founder shareholder. Galenvs is a contract research and development firm working on custom oligonucleotide synthesis and magnetic nanoparticle technology for diagnostics and therapeutics.
The second is a 52% stake in SI & C Resins, which makes polymer- and silica-based products for the chemical, pharma and biotech industries. That deal values the company at ₹30 crore pre-money, and Laurus will put in ₹32.5 crore. It may invest up to another ₹30 crore in SI&C’s securities as the business needs funds, CNBC-TV18 reported.
Neither deal is large next to quarterly revenue of over ₹2,200 crore. They read more like capability buys, in oligonucleotides and peptide resins, than growth bets in their own right.
Dividend and share price
Laurus declared an interim dividend of ₹1 per equity share of ₹2 face value for FY27. The record date is November 6, 2026, and the dividend will be paid on or after November 19, 2026. After the announcement, CNBC-TV18 reported the shares trading 2.14% higher at ₹2,231.80 on the BSE.
The results came on a busy earnings day. Coal India’s Q2 numbers also landed on October 29.
What it means for investors
A beat this wide on margin will push analysts to revisit their full-year estimates. The harder question is whether 34% holds. CDMO revenue can be lumpy, as it depends on when big customer orders ship. One strong quarter doesn’t make a trend, and we’d want to see the next couple of quarters before calling this the new normal.
