Goodluck India share price news: what the board signed off on
The board met on October 12 and gave in-principle approval to a bigger amalgamation. Two subsidiaries are now part of the scheme:
- Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Ltd, a material subsidiary (the new addition)
- Goodluck Green Energy Ltd, whose merger the board had already cleared in principle, as disclosed to exchanges on July 11
The company’s stated goals are to pull group entities into one structure, sharpen operational focus, improve market liquidity and build long-term shareholder value. The detailed terms, structure and financial impact will come later.
Fresh 52-week high
ET Markets said the stock touched a new 52-week high of ₹585 in the afternoon, and was heading for its biggest single-day jump since October 2023.
Why the defence unit has the market’s attention
It’s small, but it’s growing fast and it earns far better margins than the rest of the business. Here’s what CNBC-TV18 reported:
- Revenue at the defence subsidiary rose to ₹81 crore in Q1 FY27, from ₹27 crore in the quarter before, with margins of roughly 42%.
- In June it bagged an order of about ₹255 crore to supply 155 mm long-range empty shells, to be delivered within 10 months.
- The company plans to commission a plant with capacity for 2.5 lakh artillery shells by September 2027.
Once the unit is merged in, listed shareholders get a direct share of those profits.
The group’s most recent quarter
CNBC-TV18’s figures for Goodluck India’s Q1 FY27:
- Consolidated revenue of ₹1,287 crore, up 31% year-on-year
- EBITDA of ₹135 crore, a 10.5% margin
- Consolidated profit after tax of ₹67 crore, up 20% on the previous quarter
What it means for investors
The rally is already pricing in the defence story. What we don’t know yet are the actual merger terms, including the swap ratio and how much dilution there might be. CNBC-TV18 also pointed out that any delay in getting the shell plant running could push back the defence ramp-up.
