Stocks to watch today, October 14, 2026, are mostly about one thing: a crowded Q2 FY27 results day, coming right after Tuesday’s sharp rebound. The BSE Sensex ended at 73,033.78, up 1,109.10 points or 1.54%. The NSE Nifty 50 closed at 22,721.95, up 358.60 points or 1.60%, according to The Hindu BusinessLine and Zee Business. IT drove that bounce. On Wednesday the spotlight moves to board meetings at Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Canara Bank and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), which means PSU earnings, refining margins and bank credit growth.
Our Stock Market Today India page carries the live session tape and hub updates. The earlier stocks to watch list for October 13 dealt with HCLTech and a few others. Think of this one as the October 14 results-day checklist.
October 14 is a results day, not a theme day: PSU capital goods, a large public-sector bank and a refining major report after a session where Nifty IT alone jumped more than 5%.

The backdrop: how October 13 closed
Monday’s weakness got undone. Zee Business said the Nifty climbed back from an intraday low of 22,288 and finished near the day’s high. The Nifty IT index jumped 5.22% to 29,830.10 on the back of HCL Technologies’ September-quarter numbers. Among the Sensex names Zee highlighted, HCL Technologies rose 8.28% to ₹1,321, Tata Consultancy Services gained 6.35% to ₹2,262, Tech Mahindra put on 4.76% to ₹1,540 and Infosys rose 4.33% to ₹1,061.
Breadth looked healthy too. The Hindu BusinessLine said every NSE sectoral index closed higher except Nifty Pharma, which slipped 0.05%. It had Nifty Realty up 2.48%, with FMCG, PSU Bank, Auto and Metal also in the green. Zee’s closing wrap showed Nifty Realty up 2.46%, Nifty Financial Services up 1.46%, Nifty PSU Bank up 1.44% and Nifty FMCG up 1.40%. The Nifty Midcap 100 gained 1.06% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 just 0.11%, per Zee. So large-cap IT did far more of the work than the broader market did.
A few other numbers from the session that traders took into Wednesday:
- India VIX: The Hindu BusinessLine said the volatility gauge fell around 8%, a sign that near-term uncertainty was easing.
- Rupee: The Indian Express and Zee both had the rupee at 95.28 per US dollar. Zee called it roughly a 0.5% gain on the previous close of 95.77, helped by Reserve Bank of India measures.
- Crude: BusinessLine quoted Brent at $104.55 a barrel, while Zee said Brent dropped $2.18, or 2.04%, to $104.47. Whichever figure you take, oil is still high compared with early-year levels and remains a margin risk for importers.
- Breadth and turnover: The Indian Express cited an advance-decline ratio of 1.38 and said NSE cash-market turnover was up 9% on the previous session.
- Market capitalisation: Zee put the day’s gain in the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies at about ₹4.58 lakh crore (₹4,57,971.73 crore). Total m-cap rose to ₹4,70,03,174.37 crore from ₹4,65,45,202.64 crore on October 12.
Tax talk played a part as well. The Indian Express reported that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government would weigh stakeholders’ views on long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax during Budget consultations, and described the securities transaction tax (STT) debate as healthy. She didn’t commit to scrapping either levy. The hope lifted sentiment, but nothing changes until the Budget decisions actually land.
On levels, BusinessLine’s session commentary had immediate Nifty support around 22,650–22,600, stronger support near 22,450 and resistance around 22,800–22,900. Zee quoted HDFC Securities’ Nandish Shah, who said the 1.60% gain was the Nifty’s sharpest single-session percentage rise since June 12, 2026. He saw resistance in the 23,100–23,150 zone and moved support up to 22,580, then 22,300.
Stocks to watch today: who reports on October 14
The Economic Times lists about 25 companies due on Wednesday, October 14. The big names are BHEL, Canara Bank, MRPL, Groww parent Billionbrains Garage Ventures, Tata Technologies, HDB Financial Services, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, CEAT and Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts. Emkay’s event calendar for the same day adds Elecon Engineering (results and an interim dividend) to several of those. Street calendars tell you when. The board outcome PDFs that come out after market hours are what tell you the numbers.
1. BHEL: can it execute the order book?
Zee Business says BHEL’s board meets on October 14, 2026 to consider unaudited results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Zee’s own consolidated Q2 FY27 estimates: revenue of ₹9,452 crore, up 26% year-on-year from ₹7,512 crore; EBITDA of ₹871 crore, up 50% from ₹581 crore; an EBITDA margin of 9.2% against 7.7% a year ago; and net profit of ₹618 crore, up 65% from ₹375 crore. These are estimates. Nothing has been reported yet.
PSU Connect, quoting analysts polled by CNBC-TV18, had a slightly different range. It pegged revenue around ₹9,236 crore (up 23%), EBITDA at ₹881 crore (up 52%), net profit at ₹654.4 crore (up 78%) and EBITDA margin at 9.5% (up 180 basis points). That gap between two sets of estimates is exactly why we wouldn’t trade a preview as if it were fact.
Here’s what Q1 FY27 already put on record (PSU Connect / Zee): revenue of ₹7,698 crore, up 40.3% year-on-year; net profit of ₹376.71 crore, against a loss of ₹455.50 crore a year earlier; and power-segment revenue of ₹5,919.50 crore, up 51.8%. Zee also notes an order book of around ₹2.6 lakh crore as of June 2026. In the data it cited, the stock closed at ₹442.35, up ₹2.45 or 0.56%, with a market capitalisation of ₹1,54,029 crore. After the numbers, traders will look at order inflows, what management says about execution, and whether margins line up with the street’s mid-9% EBITDA assumption.
2. Canara Bank: the week’s first big PSU bank result
Livemint quotes Canara Bank’s exchange filing: the board meets on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 to consider unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the second quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026. PSU Connect says a dividend isn’t on the agenda.
The provisional business update filed with the exchanges on October 1, 2026 (an NSE announcement with PDF) shows these figures for the period ended September 30, 2026 (provisional, subject to audit/review):
- Global business: ₹30,70,928 crore, up 5.71% quarter-on-quarter and 15.83% year-on-year
- Global deposits: ₹16,97,195 crore, up 5.31% QoQ and 13.13% YoY
- Global advances: ₹13,73,733 crore, up 6.21% QoQ and 19.35% YoY
- Domestic advances: ₹12,63,433 crore, up 4.67% QoQ and 16.83% YoY
- RAM (domestic): ₹8,12,109 crore, up 6.20% QoQ and 21.00% YoY
Keep in mind these show how big the balance sheet is, not how profitable it is. Livemint’s Q1 FY27 numbers are still the earnings base: net profit of ₹4,856 crore, up about 2% year-on-year from ₹4,752 crore, and net interest income of ₹10,216 crore, up 13% from ₹9,008 crore. PSU Connect’s Q1 snapshot adds gross NPA at 1.57% and net NPA at 0.36%. When results come, look at Net Interest Margin, the CASA mix, credit cost, and whether the 19.35% YoY advances growth in the provisional update carries into the reviewed P&L without provisions jumping.
3. MRPL: refining numbers and a possible interim dividend
PSU Connect and exchange-linked summaries (Trendlyne’s BSE announcement feed among them) say MRPL’s board meets on October 14, 2026 to approve unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026. It may also consider an interim dividend for FY2026–27, if any. The Q1 FY27 actuals PSU Connect cites are revenue of ₹41,609 crore, net profit of ₹915 crore against a loss of ₹272 crore in Q1 FY26, and refinery throughput of 4.43 million tonnes. With Brent still above $104, three things will move the stock after hours: the gross refining margin (GRM), inventory gains or losses, and the dividend call.
4. ICICI Lombard: the street expects lower PAT
Zee Business estimates ICICI Lombard’s Q2 FY27 profit after tax at ₹700 crore, down 14% year-on-year from ₹819 crore. Net premium earned is seen roughly flat at ₹5,650 crore against ₹5,651 crore a year earlier. For context, the same report says Q1 PAT dropped 46% YoY to ₹403 crore from ₹747 crore. Management blamed two large fire losses (₹63 crore) and a ₹165 crore increase in motor third-party claim reserves after a Supreme Court judgment. Q1 net premium earned still rose 16% YoY to ₹5,950 crore. This time, watch the motor loss ratio, the combined ratio and anything said about distribution regulation or expenses of management. Zee said the stock was at ₹1,686.90 on the NSE, up 0.77%, in the session it covered.
5. Tata Technologies, HDB Financial, Groww parent, CEAT
ET’s Wednesday list puts Tata Technologies in the IT and engineering services follow-through after HCLTech, ahead of Wipro, Tech Mahindra and Persistent Systems on October 15. HDB Financial Services is the HDFC Bank-linked NBFC result that comes before the private-bank cluster on October 17. Billionbrains Garage Ventures, Groww’s parent, is a listed fintech and brokerage that gets far more attention than older NBFCs. With its first few results, we’d focus on franchise metrics like active clients, order flows and operating leverage rather than rerating it on one quarter. CEAT falls in auto ancillaries, where rubber and crude-linked input costs still bite even after Tuesday’s dip in oil.
Provisional advances and street PAT estimates are inputs for a checklist, not substitutes for the audited board PDFs. Size positions for gap risk after results, not for the preview headline.
Using this stocks-to-watch list on October 14
- Keep the calendar and the numbers apart. Board meeting dates from Livemint, ET, Zee and the exchange feeds confirm when results are due. Only the outcome filing confirms revenue, profit, margins and dividends.
- Judge BHEL on order book and margins. A ₹2.6 lakh crore order book (June 2026, per Zee) gives visibility. The EBITDA margin against the ~9% street range tells you about quality.
- Read Canara in two passes. The NSE provisional PDF covers advances and deposits. For NII, NIM, GNPA/NNPA and provisions, wait for the reviewed results.
- With MRPL, GRM and the dividend matter more than throughput. The Q1 turnaround to a ₹915 crore profit already reset the base, and the interim-dividend decision is its own corporate-action event.
- Treat IT as the side story. Tuesday’s 5.22% surge in Nifty IT could fade or extend on Wednesday without any fresh IT results. Tata Technologies is the one IT-adjacent name on today’s ET list.
- Mind the levels. BusinessLine’s 22,800–22,900 Nifty resistance and the higher 23,100–23,150 band from Zee/HDFC Securities frame the upside. Most desks are quoting 22,600–22,580 as the first support zone after the rebound.
If you want to fit these results into a bigger earnings framework, our guide on how to analyse quarterly results of a company walks through revenue, margins, asset quality and order-book reads one step at a time. When Canara and HDB Financial put out their P&Ls, our explainers on operating profit versus net profit and net interest margin will come in handy.
After October 14
ET’s weekly tracker has Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Persistent Systems, Nestlé India and Jio Financial on October 15. LTIMindtree, Federal Bank and Bajaj Housing Finance are among Friday’s names, and HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Yes Bank all report on Saturday, October 17. Tuesday’s Sensex rebound and the LTCG/STT talk did improve the mood. But the Indian Express also pointed out that the Sensex was still down about 15% over the previous year. One good day doesn’t wipe out expensive crude, September CPI at 5.54% (cited in BusinessLine’s session wrap) and continued caution from foreign investors.
For October 14 itself, the names that matter are BHEL, Canara Bank, MRPL, ICICI Lombard, Tata Technologies, HDB Financial Services, Groww’s parent and CEAT. Every percentage and rupee figure above comes from the exchange filings and outlet reports linked in this piece.
