Crompton Q2 results, announced on October 16, 2026, were cleaner than many expected. Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals grew consolidated net profit 64.9% year-on-year to ₹124.39 crore for the September quarter, revenue rose 18.2%, and margins actually widened even though raw materials got costlier. The fans, pumps and appliances maker filed its board meeting outcome and results with NSE while the market was open. For the broader picture, see our stock market today India hub.

Crompton Q2 results: the headline numbers

All figures are consolidated for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 (Q2 FY27). Growth rates compare with Q2 FY26 unless we say otherwise.

  • Revenue from operations: ₹2,263.29 crore, up 18.2% from ₹1,915.57 crore, and up 1.3% from ₹2,235.02 crore in the June quarter.
  • Net profit: ₹124.39 crore, up 64.9% from ₹75.42 crore, but down 12.8% from ₹142.70 crore in the June quarter. Profit attributable to Crompton’s own shareholders, after the minority share in its subsidiary Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances, was ₹119.34 crore.
  • EBITDA: ₹205 crore, up 24.1%, with the margin at 9.0% against 8.6% a year earlier.
  • Profit before tax excluding exceptional items: ₹167 crore, up 36.2%.

Some of that profit jump is a base effect. The year-ago quarter had an exceptional charge of ₹20.36 crore. The company’s investor presentation shows profit excluding exceptional items up 37.3%, from ₹91 crore to ₹124 crore. Still healthy, just less dramatic.

Fans and pumps did the work

Electric consumer durables, the bucket that holds fans, pumps, water heaters and kitchen appliances, grew revenue 19.4% to ₹1,634.49 crore, and segment profit rose 30.7% to ₹189.48 crore, as per the consolidated segment data in the filing. In its press release, the company called this the segment’s fastest growth in nine quarters, and the presentation says fans are back to double-digit growth after nine quarters. In rooftop solar, about 20,000 units have gone in under an Andhra Pradesh tender, which is half of that order book.

Lighting was the weak spot. Revenue grew 14.3% to ₹298.29 crore, but segment profit slipped to ₹38.53 crore from ₹40.54 crore, pulling the margin to 12.9% from 15.5%. The company pinned it on business-to-business orders taken at pre-agreed prices. Butterfly’s own revenue rose 13.1% to ₹331 crore, with an EBIT margin of 7.4%.

Ahead of estimates, yet the stock barely moved

CNBC-TV18 said revenue beat its poll estimate of ₹2,123 crore and EBITDA beat the ₹185 crore estimate, with the 9.0% margin ahead of the expected 8.7%. The channel’s 68% profit growth figure is for attributable profit. How did margins improve when consolidated material margin fell to 29.8% of sales from 31.6%? Advertising and promotion spending dropped 16.8% to ₹68 crore, and fixed costs were spread over higher sales.

The share price shrugged. On the NSE, Crompton closed at ₹215.50, five paise below the previous close of ₹215.55, after trading between ₹204.10 and ₹220.65, according to the NSE bhavcopy for October 16. The board meeting ended at 2:05 PM, during market hours, so that range covers trade both before and after the numbers. ET also reported the 65% profit rise and credited electric consumer durables for the quarter.

What we are watching next

Demand is picking up across Crompton’s main categories, and profit is growing faster than sales, which is the pattern we explain in our post on operating leverage in quarterly results. The open questions: can price hikes keep up with commodity inflation, how long does the lower ad spend last, and when do lighting margins recover? The presentation says the company is on track for an exit EBITDA margin of 11-12% by FY29. Our guide on how to analyse quarterly results of a company explains how to read these numbers.
